The VersaFlex Full Line of Flexible Trim & Moldings

At Versatrim, our eight different flexible molding and trim options, in addition to all our flooring and stair solutions, references flooring thickness as the total thickness of all members of the floor installation once laid upon the subfloor. This is typically composed of the flooring plank (i.e., vinyl or laminate), the underlayment–either attached or loose lay, and any additional vapor barriers.

VersaFlex T-Molding

When your project needs you to join two laminate floors in adjoining rooms, either through a doorway or other entrance at an angle or on a curve, the VersaFlex T-Molding is the flexible vinyl floor trim you need. The Versatrim T-Molding is the best solution when your two different floors are approximately the same height.

Installing & Maintaining Your Flexible Trim & Molding

By leveraging our moisture-resistant polyurethane composite material, VersaFlex moldings are designed for both interior and exterior use. However, Versatrim still recommends the use of a paint or gel stain and sealer for all applications. Here are a few considerations to keep in mind when working with VersaFlex products during a variety of installation and maintenance tasks:

HOW TO INSTALL

USE: VersaFlex moldings are designed for interior and exterior use. This product is stable and will not absorb moisture. However, the use of a paint or gel stain and sealer is recommended for all applications.

MACHINING: Conventional woodworking tools can be used with this material. Material can be cut, sanded, and shaped with ease. Miter saws work well when trimming this material. As with all types of trim material, use care when marking and cutting.

CONDITIONING: Conditioning VersaFlex in a warm room (70 to 75°) for 1/2 a day will make it more flexible.

FASTENING: Always install VersaFlex moldings in a relaxed position. Use construction or panel adhesive or mastic type glue continuously on back side and nails to secure molding material in place until adhesive bonds.

  • DO NOT use staples to fasten material.
  • Keep nails to a minimum, no closer than 6” between nails.
  • Do not nail closer than 3/8” from edge of molding.

CLEANING: Prior to finishing, clean the molding by wiping with a cloth using soap and water, paint thinner or any mild solvent to clean any dirt or grease that may have accumulated during installation.

PAINT & STAINING: VersaFlex is paint grade. Moldings with the Oak Wood Grain or Paint Grade (No Grain) can be painted with a latex or oil-based paint. Only moldings with the Oak Wood Grain can stained, using a gel type stain.

1) Surface Preparation:

  • Sand with fine grit paper (150) before staining to ensure the VersaFlex moldings accepts color pigments effectively.

2) Recommended Stain Types:

  • Wiping stains (preferably gel stains for best coverage).
  • Avoid spray or flood/dip stains.

3) Drying Time:

  • Gel stains provide optimal coverage but require longer drying times.
  • Water-based or solvent-based wiping stains dry faster if quick drying is required but may need multiple applications due to their thinner pigment application compared to gel stains.

4) Application Method:

  • Apply stain, then immediately wipe off excess to leave a thin coat, allowing quicker drying.
  • Additional thin coats can be applied as needed to achieve desired color intensity.

5) After Staining:

  • Allow stain to thoroughly cure before applying a clear urethane topcoat.

Important Note: Due to the less absorbent nature of our urethane-based VersaFlex moldings compared to wood, conducting test samples prior to final application is strongly recommended to determine suitability and drying times for specific staining conditions.
